illustration week 11: yourself as a villain

i totally could've just reposted last week! but i decided to have some fun with this

this was a thumbnail that became a monster, and it ate all my other thumbnails. you can still see them a little, underneath. that line in the middle? just where the frame used to be.. if you look close enough you can see how many times the frame was enlarged...

can you guys give me some feedback please? that would be fantabulous!

i drew these two characters in the summer and finally sat down and colored them! it was a super quick job cause i have to do some flash.. but i'll do a drawing of the whole body-fins and all-and spend more time on the coloring when i've got more time. so like, christmas maybe? thanks for looking!

first day back

here's lara croft being attacked by a made up creature. her body is kind of super twisted-but i figure, hey if she can jump twenty feet in the air, or never go to the bathroom, or eat medipacks-she can twist her body like a yoga master! i colored the picture like a preschooler. the end.

did a couple doodles of the same girl. the face doesn't really fit with the other drawing cause i did colored one on the computer and not in my sketchbook! oh well! i'm going to color these later on! i wish i could take all my computer gear with me and magically be able to set up and doodle on the bus or during my breaks

i've been doodling a little indian girl character this weekend. so i drew her in roughly in painter and colored quickly just minutes ago.

final design project spring 07 ... daiyu

Daiyu is the heroine of my model pack. she works with the chinese government undercover to crackdown on gang wars and other dealings. she's following the nastiest one yet, but she's got some help from her friend Ping! this is the turnaround, pose sheet and expressions

final design project spring 07 ... ping!

this character, Ping, is secretly friends with the heroine Daiyu. he's worked with an underground chinese gang that is currently being investigated by the chinese government. he's pretty free spirited, and kind of flounces all over the place without getting too damaged.

the original sketch underneath was done during lifedrawing.. i got a little tired of drawing a naked person.. so i added wings.

i'm a bit of an amateur at coloring.. so any critique is welcome. i'm mostly just playing around with the tools and colors right now-but please push me in the right direction on how to color beautifully!

i love drawing animals and monsters. once i learn to color, i'll fill some of these guys in!

this is just a simple character i did in flash. very very simple as i didn't have a tablet at the time. it's kinda cute. i haven't done any animating with him (yet?) though

comic drawrings

some concept character designs for the comic.. i think i'll go with something closer to the drawing in the middle... she's the main character, and she's sort of a cop. whether or not her being a 'cop' will come into the story of my comic strip is undecided. time to catch the bus!

costume design

this week was costume design. design clothing researched from real styles and dress up a character from Road to El Dorado! i researched thai traditional dress and did up Shell.. or whatever her name is.

Peter Chung Assignment

we had to design a character posed on a motorbike in peter chung's style. i really liked this assignment.. i don't know.. i think it's the weird lankiness of the characters he designs. and the poses are OUTRAGEOUS! i love it!

this is the original design i came up with.. a bald egyptian motorcycle dude.. but everyone kept talking about doing a really sexy girl and i decided to show everyone up.....
